1933 Peugeot P108SL Very Original Matching numbers For Sale
1933 Vintage Motorcycle Peugeot P108SL, Very Original, Running, Matching Numbers
Sadly, one of my bikes has to go. This 1933 Peugeot is the 250cc 4-Stroke S (Standard) model L. It runs (after a little persuasion). I have a video of it running. It is a very nice side-valve bike with girder forks and a pillion seat.
Would consider PX for a Triumph of any age. To explain, almost all of my bikes are Triumph so I will always make room for another one. It needs to be at least 50% cash and your bike though.
Original engine and frame with matching numbers.
3-Speed, hand gear change
Original brass frame badge
V5C Registration document in my name
I have a bundle of documents and images that come with the bike. It has an interesting history. Apparently, it was hidden in an outbuilding in the Vichy area of France in 1938. It was re-registered in France around 1950 and only ridden for a short period. It was stored away again and discovered decades later in a derelict outbuilding in 2010.
The owner before me restored the machine. He maintained that almost every original component was retained and re-used, with the exception of the wheels (which were rebuilt with new spokes, rims and tyres), the chain, wiring and the paintwork. All nuts & bolts are original except one mudguard stay bolt and two on the rectifier. The headlight glass isn’t glass. So, it’s pretty original.
I can get it to run, rev and idle. It goes into all gears when the engine isn’t running, but won’t drop into 1st without damaging the gears when the engine is running. I’ve adjusted the clutch cable length. This helps, but any attempt to put it into 1st while the engine is running, results in protest from the gearbox. So, rather than put it in the garage until I have the time to take the engine plate off to access the clutch, I’ve decided to sell it. There’s a garage-full of projects and this will be low on the list so it could be in there for some time before it gets paid any interest.
It’s time for someone else to enjoy this beautiful bike.
You’re very welcome to come and view it before you buy. It’s an older restoration, so please don’t expect immaculate paintwork. It’s better than an “oily rag bike”, but not pristine either. Priced very sensibly as I really do need the space.
If you’d like to see a video of the bike running, please ask and I will forward a way to find it. (I can’t post it on here)
It’s currently on SORN.
