1969 Lancia Fulvia Rallye S 17000 miles Deposit Taken SOLD

Merewald Touchese (Seaview Turquoise) with optional wool cloth interior. Two owners from new with only 28000km 17000 miles. Bought new by a Doctor Antonio Marcello Raciti of Linguaglossa near Catania Sicily on the 10th of October 1969 as a 50th birthday present to himself. Sparingly used, as his main run around was a Fiat 850 and a bicycle and the village he lived and worked in was very small, he tended to use it on longer journeys initially and after on high days and holidays, he had bought himself another car but kept the Fulvia for another 10 or so years. It was then acquired by his direct neighbour Giovanna Trovato on the 23 of February 1984 with just over 22000 kms to form a small private collection, he used it even less just taking it to events and the odd rally. When I bought it it was clear that it hadn’t been used for many years, but because it had always been kept indoors it hadn’t suffered any of the usual sun damage.

Lancia Fulvia Coupe,

The Fulvia with originally introduced as a small four door saloon in 1963 with a 1091cc single block V4 engine with a 7. 8:1 compression ratio producing 56 BHP, considered somewhat underpowered this was swiftly increased to 71bhp by increasing the compression ratio to 9:1 and by fitting two dual choke solex carburettors. it was again raised to 80bhp with an increase to 1231cc.
The Coupe first appeared in 1965 with a shorter and 100kg lighter chassis. Designed by Pietro Castagnero with a concave rear panel and rear window, and, unique to the series 1 cars, very wide ‘V’ shape to the front bumper and grill together with a high roof gave it had a very distinctive look and was an immediate success. The 80bhp engine was used initially this was then increased to 1298cc and 87bhp in the Rallye so named as the HF variants had been doing so well in international rallying, and finally raised to 90bhp with an increase in compression to 9. 5:1 in the Rally S. In 1969 4 variants were available at the same time the 1. 2 the 1. 3 Rallye the Rallye S and the HF. (HF’s had highly tuned versions on the standard engines and had lighter bodies, 1. 2 88bhp, 1. 3 101bhp and finally a 1. 6 115 and 132 bhp.) Fiat took over in 1969 and the series 2 followed shortly after. Only the 1. 3S and the 1600 HF were then available the HF being dropped after only two years. Production finished in 1976 after around 135000 Coupes of all varieties had been built.

This car.

Paint and body. The paint work is about 80% factory original only the bonnet and the passenger front and rear wings have been repainted of which I have had the bonnet and front wing done again as the paint was failing. The body is totally original, has never damaged and has not suffered from any kind of rust.

Interior.
This is pretty much as new, it even smells new, testament to being kept indoors all its life, with an air of quality only an unrestored Lancia can possess . It still has the information cards attached to the clock and the heater which would have been there when the car was new. The wool covered seats are just beautiful and the contrasting stitching hasn’t faded, the top of the dashboard is perfect, it’s not just crack free it still has a new lustre to it.

Boot.
Refurbished spare wheel with shod with period correct Pirelli CN67. Jack and tool kit. undamaged rubber floor mat.

Engine and drive line, brakes etc.
The engine bay is unbelievably original, the cam cover retains it original crackle finish and nuts are as new the subframe still has its part number visible and many bolts have torqued paint mark on them.
Much recommissioning works have been carried out, these include :- Rebuilt carburettors, rebuilt fuel pressure regulator, rebuilt brake servo. New fuel pump, new steering centre drag link, new brake master cylinder, new oil cooler hoses, new exhaust back box, five new Pirelli CN 67 tyres, new spring buffers, new bonnet buffers, refurbished (stove enamelled) wheels x 5, straightened and polished wheel centres and trims, machine polished bumpers and grill, re enamelled Rallye S and Lancia badges, two oil changes, gear box oil change and brake fluid change, new spark plugs, radiator removed and flushed, fuel tank removed and cleaned, fuel level sender refurbished. It was then set up on a rolling road at Thruxton, and drives like a new car.

This is the most original Fulvia I have ever seen, wonderful to drive and unusually quiet on the move, normal conversation is easy at 70mph. The last of the Fulvias built by an Independent Lancia.
