History and Context - and I´m in WatsApp
It's a 1977 Ford Transit 100Y MkI
The engine is the Diesel model York * with 2316 cm3 capacity, as stated in the vehicle documents. The fuel injector was disassembled and cleaned.
The first owner bought this pick-up at the end of 1977. In March 1980 he sold it to the second owner, who used it for local distribution of light goods until 1983. From that year on, he stored it for sporadic use.
It was always dry and clean in the garage of his house until last September, at age 83, he decided to sell it. And we, in a moment that was moving, decided to buy it AND JUST STORE IT. The first photos from the album show this moment.
The truck has never been restored - simply because it is not needed.
The rarity of the model joins:
- the clarity of its origin. Rarely has a commercial vehicle been held for so long by one person (1980 - 2018);
- its authenticity and total originality - except for the "colored" presentation of the cargo box (cargo boxes were not supplied by Ford);
- its incredible state of conservation, always kept in the garage;
- its incredible state of operation, since its regular maintenance and repairs have always been made;
- Its low mileage for a work vehicle;
- its continuous operation over time, officially certified.
We were drawn to this pick-up for its complete honesty. But, let's be honest, also from the business perspective. So we present it for sale here and now, as clearly as possible: we photographed it (with a cheap mobile phone), we did an elementary service (it does not need anything ) and we say everything we know about it. We hope you like it.
Detailed Presentation Of The Vehicle
It has almost everything you could wish for:
-Low mileage fully credible (154, 000km, although the 5-digit odometer can only mark 54, 000);
-Low mileage and regular operation officially certified since 2003, traveling on average 400 km per year (see document of the Institute of Mobility and Transport in the last photos of the album);
-Total originality of the chassis, engine and cabin.
-Original painting (occasionally showing underneath the primary red), with the exception of the wheels, one door and possibly the grille;
-Zero corrosion of the metal (see photos of the roof and its welding points, wheel arches, bottom of doors, body underneath etc.)
-Zero rotting of cargo box wood
Perfect preservation, as shown in the photos, not only from outside but also from inside and from the engine compartment.
Ford original rubber mat (image 2), original tools (between the benches, image 3); instructions book (image 3113). Even the oil filter is from Ford's official supplier (Motorcraft, image 5)
The photo album shows more documental proof: It turns out that the first owner bought the vehicle in August 1977 and the second owner bought it in 1980 (see property title in photo 6) and sold it to us in 2018 (photo 8). Officially there was one more owner, the Ford dealer who sold it (in 1977 it was the legal procedure)
NOTHING to do:
-The engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brakes do not show any noise, vibration, slack or roughness. The truck runs, ride, steer and brake as it should.
-The controls all work perfectly: Instruments, lights, switchgear, windscreen wipers, seat adjustment, etc.
-As shown in the You Tube video Ford Transit 100y MkI 1977 video1, the truck traveled by its own means after the purchase.
-As shown in the video You Tube Ford Transit 100y MkI 1977 video2, the engine noise sounds very nice and the exhaust does not emit undue smoke.
Still, a basic service was done: the engine oil was replaced, the brake oil was replaced and the refrigeration circuit checked.
A van like this one is rare and valuable in this condition, and that was known to the man who at the age of 83 sold it.
So it can not be sold cheap, because it was not bought cheaply.
The transaction cost of a light vehicle from Portugal to central European countries is not very expensive.
The signing of a contract between buyer and seller will give security to both.
Still, buying a vehicle from a distance is often a cause for concern on the part of the buyer. Therefore, all those (or their representatives) who wish to check and try this vehicle in order to form a conscious opinion about its merits are most welcome.
(as the case may be, we can assist with transport those who arrive in Lisbon or Porto).

* The York is the best Diesel engine to be installed in the Transit MkI, but only from 1974 to 1978. It replaced the weak Perkins engine - see 365daysofmotoring. com
