1955 Series One 86 Inch with Original Buff Log Book SOLD

An opportunity to buy a very sad and neglected 1955 Land Rover Series 1 86", either for complete restoration or as a source of donor parts for another project.

Having lain gently resting in a Lincolnshire field for decades, this very poorly 86 inch has been recently been exhumed and now resides with us at Famous Four in Louth.

Originally registered in Lincolnshire. We have the original 'buff' log book which shows the original 3 letter 3 number registration and three local owners; this old girl appears to have been resident in Lincolnshire for all of it's life.

Overall condition is very poor; the chassis has corroded so badly that it has broken in half.

At some time a non-standard American V8 engine has been fitted, and sadly we do not have the original engine.

There are many salvageable parts here however; the doors, bonnet, tailgate, front panel and front wings are in remarkably good, straight condition. The steering wheel and column are still with the car. The back body is here, but with some dents, and the seat box remains but with some transit damage (should straighten). The gearbox is also here.

She will need to be trailered away, of course!

This represents an opportunity to own a Series 1 Land Rover for dedicated restoration or for parts source.

The other Series One visible in the first and last pictures (FNV671) is also available for sale; a 1950 80 inch, also with buff log book and in slightly better overall condition. Call for further details - it will be advertised for sale on this site shortly.

Part exchanges may be considered.

The Land Rover was a utility vehicle devised in 1947 by the Wilks brothers for use on their farm. It was inspired by the wartime Jeep and the version most prized by aficionados is the Series I model (which accounted for the first 10 years of production).
