1960 ALVIS S1 TD21 Saloon in Almond Green metallic For Sale
An excellent example in stunning Almond Green Metallic with Mint Green Leather.
The 3 litre straight six TD21, based on a Graber design was introduced in
1959, with a total of only 600 produced in this very elegant two door Park Ward saloon bodywork.
I have owned this car since 2013.It comes with a most extensive history file, supporting receipts, and original build sheet.
It has a recorded 89200 miles, having only covered 12000 miles since a major restoration in 2008 after many years in dry storage. The work carried out at that time is covered by a fully detailed photographic history.
11 years later the bodywork is still in truly excellent condition, having also been refreshed during my 6 year ownership, as is all the chrome and other bright work. Detailing is excellent.
The Leather Upholstery in Mint Green, piped Dark Green is also in excellent condition, having been correctly done to the original pattern. The carpets and headlining were renewed at restoration.
The Dashboard and all other wood has been fully re-veneered, is unmarked, and shows excellent gloss. There is a period working Radiomobile radio. A stainless steel exhaust is fitted.
In 2016, at a total cost in excess of £15K a fully re-conditioned and professionally rebuilt replacement 1960 TD21 Engine was fitted, having been rebored + 20 thou with new pistons & rings, ground crank & main bearings, re-profiled camshaft, skimmed head and converted to unleaded.
This work also included the reconditioning of ALL engine ancillaries such as water pump, oil pump, starter, dynamo, carburettors, radiator etc.
At the same time, the gearbox was converted from a BW 3 speed auto to an Alvis 4 speed manual box.
The engine bay was also stripped of all non factory “ add-ons” including Kenlowe fan and repainted in satin black.
All of this work was carried out by an Alvis specialist.
Only 1500 miles have been covered since. The car performs very strongly with excellent oil pressure and maintains a steady temperature even in hot weather and difficult traffic conditions.
Four good matching radials are fitted to new (2016) MWS painted wires.
This is a very reluctant sale. Much more detail is available, just ask!
