1953 Bentley R Type as per Rolls Royce Silver Dawn For Sale

1953 Bentley R Type (Rolls Royce Silver Dawn) Tax Exempt - MOT Exempt Original Purchase Record Very Low Ownership Beautiful Interior Ex Wedding Car Previous MoTs 4 Speed Manual This beautiful looking 1954 Bentley R-Type is just one of a marque that is fast becoming a very rare sight on both our roads and at our classic car shows. This can only add to the ongoing desirability, rarity and value of these beautiful underrated dream machines. I have noticed that the market seem to be demanding anywhere between £35,000 - £75,000 for decent examples. To those in the know the R-Type is to all sense and purposes identical to the Rolls Royce Silver Dawn of the same era. Replace the grille and most wouldn`t notice the difference. Believe it or not the R-Type was by far the more popular choice with buyers when they both went to market, selling nearly 3 units for every 1 of the Silver Dawn. The Bentley R-Type was quite an improvement on its predecessor the mk VI, largely due to its improved engine capacity of 4566cc, greatly improving the overall performance. As you can no doubt see from the pictures this car looks absolutely wonderful in its custom ivory wedding livery. As previously used as a wedding car the interior had to be in wonderful order and this car still carries that wonderful patina with both wood and leather holding up remarkably well. The exterior likewise is in good overall condition and fundamentally she is very solid but there are some bubbling body imperfections under the paintwork in areas that you may wish to attend to. They are not instantly noticeable but they are there so please factor this in if this is of concern to you. From my brief examination I noticed bubbling to the thin sill panels below the doors and some just above the front bumper but there may be more. This car starts and runs very well and I have come across no obvious concerns with the starting and running of this car with the gauge showing good oil pressure. She has not been driven on the roads for quite some time though so a good going over will be required before doing so. So in summary she is a good looking, fundamentally solid, easy starting and nice running Bentley R-Type that will need some light cosmetic work to bring her back to her former glory albeit she could quite easily and respectably be used as-is if so desired.
