Triumph TR5 PI 1968 UK Car For Sale

The car is Royal blue with black leather trim and black mohair soft-top.Heritage Certificate and full history. Straight six-cylinder 2.5 litre fuel injected engine (with overdrive) 2498 c.c.19.6mpg and developing 175bhp at 5500rpm. 4-speed manual gearbox (with overdrive selector) and great gear ratios for this lively engine. Top speed is approx. 120 mph (195 km/h) without the overdrive. Triple Weber Carburettors conversion fitted. Electronic ignition has been fitted. Lightweight car and therefore performance is a good match for many more powerful cars. Without being offensively noisy, the TR5’s single exhaust pipe makes an impressive sound and a pleasingly smooth hum, rising to a full six-cylinder song when revved. Luggage accommodation is reasonable. Great for touring and qualifies for many UK and continental classic races & meets (50th birthday this year!). Compared with its predecessors, the TR5 is a complete transformation. The best TR looks and the best performance all in one package with great sports car response makes this the one to have. Only 39,443 miles driven. Serviced and tuned by D.J.English, Kings Lynn, Norfolk for the last 20 years. Last MOT passed 01.05.2018 (expiry date 29.05.2019). Last short service 01.05.2018. Last full service & full engine tune 08.06.2017. Full specialist service history and paperwork with receipts since 1997. No evidence of rust or weaknesses anywhere on the car. Full nuts and bolts restoration in 2007. The suspension has been rebuilt with all polyurethane bushes, (very expensive and very worthwhile). All springs have been replaced with up-rated units, and the rear suspension has been modified to accept telescopic dampers. Upgraded with centre laced wire wheels, triple eared spinners and Yokohama tyres. Possibly the most desirable combination for a TR5. Historic Vehicle – No road tax! TR5 is the pick of the TR series! Strong, simple and great fun to drive. Striking continental styling. Excellent parts availability. Easy and economical ownership. The Michelotti styled TR5 was only built for 13 months between August 1967 and September 1968 by the Triumph Motor Company in Coventry, United Kingdom. Only 1,161 were ever produced for the UK market and only 300 are still registered in the UK today. The TR5 is fast becoming a rare and collectible motor. It was the first British production sports car with petrol injection. Front disc breaks, independent rear suspension.Great active owners club – The TR Register. priced to sell, house move imminent!
