I will be sad to see my 1974 MGB GT V8 go, but as I have a back injury she has to go also I barely have time to drive the car. She has had six owners since new, I purchased her in 2008, we have a massive history file for the car which was originally purchased by a lady Doctor in the North-East of England on 3 September 1974.
This genuine factory MGB GT V8 has been thoroughly restored professionally with no expense spared over a five-year period and since completion only driven for approx 100 miles, spending all of its time otherwise garaged, and looked after and cared for by an enthusiastic MG Owners Club member owner. Any faults as they became apparent during my ownership have been professionally dealt with either mechanically or bodywork wise as required through the restoration, as a result she always turns heads and would make a superb show car if that is what you are looking for.
This car has been subject to a massive and thorough rebuild with many photographs to prove the quality of this work, these can be sent via email, please telephone for full details and to exchange email addresses.
This is an original factory chrome bumper car rebuilt with full reference to the acclaimed book Original MGB by Anders Ditlev Clausager.
The only modifications over the original factory specifications would be considered as sensible improvements:
The car's seats were re-trimmed twenty years ago with navy hide which has mellowed beautifully.
MGOC Chromed window winders fitted, the original plastic ones just do not last.
Kenlow electric fan fitted with thermostatic control.
The original cast iron exhaust manifolds have been changed to steel tubular exhaust manifolds which have been in turn wrapped to reduce exhaust heat from the sweet running original 3528cc V8 engine. These connect to an MGOC stainless steel exhaust system which gives a delightful burble.
During the rebuild an MGOC sound proofing kit has been fitted along with new luxury carpets.
An MGOC upgraded heater matrix and fan complete with all new seals etc have been fitted during the restoration too.
Everything works as it should do and she is very reliable with new tyres, brakes, any rubber or consumable or worn out parts replaced with quality items or fully refurbished. This included the sunroof and headlining which have been fully refurbished and renewed professionally at some cost to get them spot on.
As can be seen from the photographs, the superb original Damask Red colour as originally specified for this car has been retained along with a navy interior, which works well and is perhaps the most popular combination. During the rebuild the car has been taken back to bare metal any corrosion has been cut out with fresh metal welded in. The car was then etched and primed, the underneath has been painted with bitumastic anti-corrosion paint, then it has been resprayed as you can see from the photographs whilst everything was off the car. Once painted and still on the rotisserie jig, the car has been thoroughly injected with waxoil followed by old engine oil to ensure absolutely everything that is hidden has been coated against future rot and corrosion whilst it could be rotated.
This is an exceptional car having had an enormous investment of time and money bestowed upon it as required.
The car is based in Inverness in the Highlands and is open to any inspection.
Upon sale payment either by cash, cleared cheque or bank transfer. For the costs of any fuel and return train fares I can deliver anywhere within the UK or make arrangements for the car to be professionally trailer-ed to your address at your expense.
