Amazingly this bus retains all of its original booklets, service book last stamped at 51,000 miles and associated leaflets.
In 1986 Mr Norman Price the then owner exported the bus to Lisbon, Portugal where he toured using the bus. The export paperwork is also on file.
I purchased the vehicle around May 2016 from Autobedrijf Kieft & Klok B.V. a very well known and respected vintage Volkswagen specialist as a running and driving vehicle.
Upon arrival back in the UK I was pleased and having carried out a couple of minor jobs the bus was presented to it's MOT which it passed at 69,347 miles with just three minor advisories and has covered minimal millage since.
Since then the Volkswagen has undergone restoration works at my own restoration business including minor fabrication and a full bare metal respray in Pastel White over Velvet Green. There are literally hundreds of photographs to show the extent and quality of the works carried out. No expense has been spared as the long term plan was to keep the vehicle.
The pictures not only demonstrate the extent of the works carried out but also give the new owner piece of mind that all repairs have been carried out to an exceptional standard.
The underside of the vehicle and engine bay have also undergone restoration and are repainted. The suspension and underside components were serviced and repainted. The exterior trim and panels are all being refitted with new gaskets and rubbers.
The engine was removed, stripped, serviced and detailed. No known faults prior to removal, none now.
Supplied in the sale but not fitted is the original factory Dormobile interior. This is not fitted at present as the new owner may want to go down another route fitting a more modern, comfortable interior. (Personally my plan would have been to refit the original.
The original Dormobile interior shows age but is in generally good order and could easily be used again.
I am happy to sell the bus one of three ways:
1. Running, driving with the original Dormobile interior fitted;
2. Running, driving with a new interior supplied and fitted;
3. Running, driving with no interior fitted but the original supplied.
In summary this is a fantastic opportunity to acquire an absolutely superb Type 2.
It can be put back to original specification or alternatively you can put your own stamp on it. In essence it's a blank canvas.
Viewing can be accommodated and I am happy to answer any questions.
