Indian Chief 348 1948 - Beautiful Example For Sale

1948 Indian Chief.....Just in. For many the 1948 model year is the year!....seeingbis believing, this is a beautiful motorcycle. The previous owner purchased this 348 Indian Chief motorcycle after having looked for one for several years which had to be in excellent original condition and not another example that had been over restored to look like a brand new bike. This Indian has been remarkably well cared for throughout it's life as is clearly evident. The coachwork does have some age related minor scratches and tiny chips to the paint that had been touched up very carefully and are hardly noticeable. Mechanically, it is in excellent running condition. It has matching frame and engine numbers and overall is completely original and period other than having a replacement chrome front fender light....also the bike has been converted to 12v and has a generator conversion to aid a good spark and easier starting. The bike running and rides beautifully....it’s very difficult to describe the feeling of riding such an incredible machine. You will notice the particularly rare ‘king and queen’ period seat...this allows a passenger to join the ride and brings far superior comfort due to the extra damping from the seat springs. It is UK registered on a period numberplate. There is also a large box file full of maintenance invoices etc., history and related documents. Unfortunately the previous owner had a nasty sports injury early last year and felt that he lost his nerve to ride a heavy bike again, hence reluctantly offering it for sale. If you are looking for one of these rare and iconic automotive works of art then this one is well worth consideration. There was an identical model sold in the Las Vegas Mecum motorcycle auction in January 2019 for twice as much.... The odometer reading is 2228 miles but this cannot be guaranteed of course I strongly recommend an early viewing as Indian Chief’s from this era are extremely rare, and I find a fully up together bike that is ready to ride is quite a task (the previous owner literally searched for years!) We are based in Overton, Hampshire (RG25) - we are open Monday to Saturday afternoon and evening appointments could be arranged. Viewing strictly by appointment only. We offer part a exchange service and we can work with your preferred transport/shipping company as required.
