1970 JAGUAR E-TYPE 4.2 SERIES 2 // THE 60'S ICON For Sale

FOR SALE; The 60’s icon // 4.2 Roadster in Signal Red EQUIPMENT Chrome wire wheels, Tinted glass, Front bumper guard, Dash clock, Map lights, Manual dial illumination. EXTERIOR The fabulous E-Type continues to endure as a design master piece and although the purity of performance has been somewhat diluted for practicality and safety purposes over the years, the style and presence is unmistakable. The paintwork has a deep gloss to it and has settled over the last couple of years since it was taken back to bare metal, etch primed and repainted in its original colour; photographs of which are provided in the history file. The brightwork is in good overall condition, with only localised gentle pitting around the light and bumper fixings, whilst the chromed areas such as the door handles, rear screen surround and door surrounds show very well with excellent fit and finish. INTERIOR The black interior works beautifully in contrast to the Signal Red exterior. The seats display a delicate patina that still maintain good shape and integrity without any sagging or fraying of the stitching. The door cards and sill carpentry present neatly whilst instrumentation and switch gear is clear and easy to read. The cabin is elegantly finished with the distinguished wood rimmed wheel that still exhibits an un-spoilt lacquer. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION The 4.2 litre six cylinder engine has been rebuilt in 2016 and only covered 300 miles since its rebuild and pulls well, with strong oil pressure both at cold idle and at speed. A recent alternator, distributor and engine tune ensures that the car is in rude mechanical health, in November 2018 this E-Type benefited from having new brakes and fluids, new twin rear silencer and and general refresh to bring the car up to ready to enjoy status. The sense of occasion on test is palpable, with a smooth partnership between gearbox and clutch the car is a joy on the open road. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES What better way to compliment the recently restored body than with a brand new set of 15 x 6 inch 72 spoke wires. These vintage wheels are provided with all new rubber, to ensure authentic ride and feel. The most recent service saw both front calipers stripped and seals replaced to make sure the car stops as it should. HISTORY FILE Chassis 1R 1752 was first supplied by H L Abbott Motors, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex via the distributes Henly Of London. It past through 3 owners before settling with its last owner/family in 1984 where the car was used sparingly for 30 years at which point a sympathetic partial restoration was undertaken from 2014 revitalising the cars body work and mechanics. The car now stands in good condition with mechanics in excellent health whilst still leaving the new custodian the opportunity to leave his/her own stamp on this truly iconic car. The history file includes provenance and build confirmation in the form of a Jaguar Heritage certificate number 63054 listing originality and spec. The ’64 to ’70 cars are regarded by some experts as the best driving car of the range, retaining the engine and dynamics of the late Series 1 cars and adding efficient cooling, braking and cabin comfort. This example has a wonderful history file, while presenting in both an attractive cosmetic and reliable mechanical condition. Please visit our website for a full write up and additional photographs. The car is supplied having had an extensive intake inspection. Warranty, Finance, Part Exchange and Worldwide shipping are all available on request.
