This bike has been gone through from the inside out with new engine parts. It has also been fitted with the popular RD 250 disc front end. I bought it 7 years ago and I have ridden it once for a total of 12 miles. It has been in my garage ever since. The good news is that even with 7 year old fuel in the tank, it fired up with a jump from my car so is a definite running bike! Sounds amazing! Smoked a bit to start with as you would expect but it soon cleared and runs clean.
Original number plate 336 YUB (worth £900 alone). This is not a matching numbers bike, BUT, the frame is confirmed 1961 and the engine is also confirmed 1961 from the numbers on both. This also matches the numbers in the DVLA V5C log book.
I don't think the guy who rebuilt it buttoned it back up properly, so it was leaking oil when I got it home before I put it away for 7 years, but it was NOT smoking from the exhaust while it was running. It does still leak from the head gasket directly below the carb, and from the oil breather cover on the top of the engine case again, just below the carb. Fuel filter has a crack and leaks also.
I took the precaution of buying a complete set of gaskets for it, which I have not even opened.
The bike comes with a brand new set of original style down pipes with new chromed clamps, a brand new unfinished bobber tank, and a classic carb cover/filter. I would say the spoke wheels need a refurbish. The Hagon shocks look brand new.
Am selling because my classic yank car needs work and I can't keep both. This is a steal at the price.
