1953 Aston Martin DB2 Vantage DHC LHD For Sale by Auction

For sale in our forthcoming auction in Paris, on 17 June 2019: Belgian title Chassis n° LML/50/275 Engine n° VB6B/50/1111 - 19 examples built - Matching numbers and colours - Full restoration to a high standard The DB2 was the first Aston Martin in the DB generation (DB for David Brown, who had owned the marque since 1947). The company rediscovered success with this model that was available in " saloon " and " drophead coupé " versions. It competed extensively in period, including taking part in the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Mille Miglia. The example on offer is a superb and left-hand drive cabriolet. It is extremely rare, being one of just 19 examples of the Vantage version that had a more powerful engine with a reworked cylinder head and bigger carburettors. Sold new in Hawaii, as confirmed by the factory sheet, the car was liveried in an elegant dark green with beige interior and matching hood. The same document tells us that it belonged to a collector from Michigan between 1993 and 1994 before being exported to Italy in 1995 to join an important collection. The file includes photos of the car before its restoration, when it was still in the US. The current owner acquired the car in 2014, when it had already undergone a full restoration, keeping the original colours and the original engine. We had the opportunity when we inspected the car to see the level of care and attention to detail that had gone into this restoration. It is clear from observation of the underbody and the engine compartment, that the car has been driven little since this work was carried out. The car starts at the first attempt, the clutch is smooth and progressive and the brakes are good. Rare, elegant, superbly restored and offering the best combination for a DB2, this cabriolet deserves a place in the most discriminating collections. Auction estimate: €400 000 / 500 000 To see all the pictures available: https://www.artcurial.com/fr/vente-3946-automobiles-en-scene
