Our car was the subject of extensive restorative work in the mid-1990s. From the mid-1980s to 2013, 2813/R was thoroughly restored, the result still being very evident today.
These works included to strip and finish the floorpans and chassis, to strip and rebuild the front and rear suspension and axle, refit petrol and brake lines, refit exhaust, to make new inner wing panels and fit, and to present to Spray-Tec of Northampton for a full repaint in September of 1992. All this is receipted, and there’s plenty more besides.
In the same period, the current Vantage-numbered engine and the then automatic gearbox were also overhauled, although, since this time, in December 2014, the far superior Tremec five-speed manual gearbox has been fitted at a cost of some £10,000+, transforming the drivability of this car enormously and proving why this has become a common and appreciated upgrade.
The accompanying BMIHT certificate confirms Dubonnet as original colour, with natural trim to the interior as it still sports today, with optional extras of chrome roadwheels, heated rear window, three-ear hub caps, powered aerial, LSD, and Avon turbospeed GT tyres.
First sold on 8th February 1967 via HR Owen of Romford, our Aston Martin has had just five keepers from new, the latest since 2013. The subject of regular maintenance yet used only sparingly in current ownership.
