The first owner was Mr Pymm who lived in Devon but later moved to Kent. I am only the second owner in its 65 years of age.
She has always been very well looked after, garaged and has been regularly used and enjoyed during my ownership, incl family weddings, outings and some shows. A very original car with all original features which gets attention wherever she goes
She is in excellent mechanical condition and very good all round condition, The DOHC engine is very smooth and quiet, she runs and drives beautifully and is first time starter. Gearbox, rear axle, clutch and running gear are all good and quiet
The photos were taken 2 months ago and show the car in its current condition.
During my ownership, the following work has been carried out:-
1. Clean and repaint chassis & underside, incl fuel tank. New exhaust system & tyres (2012/13)
2. Repaint front & rear wings, wheels & rear spats and sills in green (2013).
3. Remove seats & door cards and re-connolize in original dark green. All new carpet in original age green colour. General refurbish interior & woodwork except headlining (which is in good original condition).
4. Carb & fuel pump overhaul, clean tank & filters etc. New battery
5. Brake & wheel cylinders overhaul, oil change (SAE 30) & service (2019)
She was MOT'd annually until no longer required ca 2015 with previous MOT certificates available. Currently taxed (historic) and insured (classic up to 3000 miles pa) with V5 in my name since ownership
She has the original tool kit, boot floor rubber matting, rear wheel spats (easily removable), inset front foglamps, Smiths heater (in good working order) and the original black "Vinyl" roof which is in excellent condition (see photos). The original Semaphore indicators are also in good working order.
Chromework is all good and she has all original switches, guages & instruments which are all in working order.
To summarise, this is a very good usable example usable example which is very practical and enjoys attention wherever she goes. The car is taxed (Historic class) until 2020 and has classic insurance
I have many more photos taken over the years which I can email you on request.
Viewing and test drive by appointment - please email me for more details. Conveniently located on the east side of Bristol close to M4/M5 etc.
For details and information about this model, I recommend reading the new book "The Legendary RM's" by JP Williams which gives fascinating history of these cars and how they evolved.
I am sure she will go to an equally appreciative owner
The Riley 9 was a middle class car which Riley launched in 1926 with the first model being the Riley 9 Monaco.
