1984 BMW 6 Series 628CSi Auto Bronze Beige For Sale
This 628CSi is an impressive, lightly refined classic car that wears a few marks consummate with its age on its sleeve.
This 109386 mile example is finished in bronze beige metallic with a cream leather interior & bronze tinted glass. The car benefits from a Mahogany Nardi steering wheel & boss as well as fully adjustable BC Racing coilover suspension and freshly refurbished original alloy wheels with period correct Michelin TRX tyres, all of which are a credit to the car. The exterior is very presentable & straight however there's a few things that would need addressing if the buyer wanted a mint car. The interior is in excellent original condition and the car mechanically performs brilliantly.
Overall, the exterior of this 628csi is very presentable & straight. There is evidence of it’s age with both front wings showing signs of bubbling & the NSR arch showing some corrosion on the lower portion below the trim line. The bonnet has a small spot of bubbling, the OSF bumper corner chrome is blemished and the roof paintwork has crazing from age. The weatherstrips below the side glass are also perished but still perform. The car stands on original fully refurbished alloy wheels complete with the only tyre for this car. The infamous metric 220/55/R390 Michelin TRX, each with great levels of tread and in good health. The undercarriage is in great condition following a professional restoration of the sills which was done buy a reputable local garage, future proofing the cars integrity.
Despite this ‘patina’, the car is very usable in its current condition and commands a lot of attention wherever it goes. The car is readily enjoyable as is, or easily smartened up further if the prospective buyer decides to do so.
The interior of this example is in excellent, original condition with the addition of a period correct 390mm Mahogany Nardi steering wheel. The carpets are unmarked and show little signs of wear, the rear seats are almost as new and the front seats, which were a specified factory option are in great shape with light signs of use. The dashboard is in superb condition too. The little hatches on the rear parcel shelf have some tainting on them but may clean up.
The car drives superbly. The engine is very sweet and has been 100% reliable in 3 years of ownership. The oil still looks clear after a couple thousand miles. The motor maintains a great temperature and does not struggle in the heat of summer. The motor idles pleasantly and is very quiet. The exhaust is solid and creates a delicious purr when throttled. The gearbox shifts sublimely and knows what it’s doing at all times. The car stops very well and the steering is compliant and smooth. The car handles amazingly which is partly enhanced by the equip of as new fully adjustable BC Racing coilover suspension allowing the car to handle like it is truly on rails whilst maintaining the compliance of an OEM ride with a few twists of a dial. This set cost more than £1000. The odometer stopped working just before its last mot which I have suspected is a broken cog which has become brittle with age. I have not tackled this as i didn’t want to risk breaking plastics around the binnacle. The car has travelled around 500 miles since its last mot. The wipers only work on one speed as does the heater motor. The car also comes equipped with a Moss alarm system which works but will need some attention to get the remote central locking working properly again.
I have a folder of paperwork with the car which includes the service booklets, marketing material and even the original purchase paperwork containing the optional extra specification.
This car is currently one of 4 vehicles in my ownership and with European motorhome adventures on the horizon, this sadly has to find a new home.
The car is located in southeast Cornwall, 20 mins from Plymouth.
