Rare Early Austin AS3 A30 4 Door Saloon 1953 resto For Sale
Austin AS3 1953
Early example of the iconic Austin A30 “peanut” car! These early AS3 models as you may know have many small differences to the later A30/35 series which set them apart - just off the top of my head - rear wing mounted fuel filler, totally different dash board / speedo , smaller recessed grill and badge, internal boot hinges with no handle, no rear bumper balance panel, different door card panels , kidney shaped radiator, smaller housing on steering box, centre mounted battery on bulkhead, front seat mounts. Plus much more - this makes the car in my opinion much more interesting than a “normal” A30/35.
Engine appears to be a recon unit (possibly gold seal?) not attempted to start - car has been dry stored since the late 1980s! Brakes etc will no doubt require rebuilding etc. Rolls and steers freely for easy loading,
Seats are a bit ripped but there all there and the dash is in good condition, couple of door card panels are missing, Windscreen is just taped in at moment.
The sills will require replacing, the bottoms of the front wings are tatty and it will require quite a lot of welding on the back end inside the boot and the lower rear corners. Fortunately a lot of new repair panels are readily available from the club and eBay. The bottoms of the doors will need some work, boot and bonnet are very good. The floors seem fairly good although there is a small patch needed on drivers side by your feet. On the plus side the inner wings and bulkhead are excellent and the door Posts are all good. Not sure on original colour - think it may of been grey but has been painted blue at some point in its past.
Would be great to see it back on the road where it belongs (Mot and Tax Exempt too!)
- Please come and view to satisfy your self of condition - I do have another approx 10;photos I can send on to any seriously Intrested party.
