For its property developer first owner, this near-£40,000 Mercedes E220 Cabriolet would have made quite a statement. Indeed parked outside his large North London pile, this motorcar would have definitely looked quite at home.
Equipped with electronically adjustable and heated seats, trimmed in elegant Mushroom leather, the Mercedes was invitingly well-appointed, yet it seems as though Mr Wogman found little time to enjoy his brand new car. Just nine month after buying it, the E220 was sold with fewer than 800 miles on the clock.
The second owner, a Reading-based estate agent, acquired the Metallic Blue-Black E220 in May 1995 and his ownership was somewhat less fleeting. In fact Mr Sofroniou kept this Mercedes for some 20-years.
Living and working in Reading, Mr Sofroniou would have had little reason to travel outside of the town and most probably used a second car for commuting. As such, this E220 had covered a mere 15,062 miles when it was added to the collection in late 2015.
Every Mercedes built up to and around this period has a reputation for lasting quality and they wear high mileage with deceptive ease, but there is something special about an example that has genuine low mileage and is still effectively as new.
In 1951, Mercedes introduced its 220 series. Together with the flagship 300 series, these were the first post-war Mercedes with a complete new and cutting-edge 6-cylinder engine. Sporty performance, a comfortable ride and an superb looking bodywork. What else would you looking for?
