The Fiat 500 Jolly by Ghia epitomises the 1960s beach party lifestyle, with sandy beaches across the Mediterranean being littered with hundreds of the ‘Jolly de Plage’, or Joker of the Beach! Based upon the dependable mechanicals of the Fiat 500, coachbuilder Ghia set about transforming the “people’s car” into a dune-buggy like vehicle, capable of withstanding the sandy and wet conditions of the beach lifestyle.
The Jolly featured a 16.5bhp, 479cc overhead-valve twin-cylinder engine located at the rear of the car, a four-speed manual transmission, and front & rear independent suspension. Whilst, in terms of design, Ghia equipped the Jolly with open sides, a removable surrey top, and waterproof Wicker seats! The Jolly’s wheelbase is just 72.4 inches.
500 Jollys became immensely popular among the members of the jet-set, often finished in bright, eye-catching colours, they looked perfectly at home on the streets of resort towns or parked in the port next to a superyacht!
The car we are thrilled to offer sits today in brilliant condition, showing just 5,750 miles. It is finished in the stunning baby blue paintwork with a contrasting white surrey top and the iconic waterproof Wicker seats with matching picnic basket! The Fiat 500 Jolly is a true style symbol of the 1950s and 60s and has an incomparable ability to generate smiles and conversations wherever it goes!
