1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce, Ground-Up restoration For Sale
The 1750 GT Veloce ranks high among the many variants of the 105-series Alfa GT. With the 122 BHP 1750 engine it took a step up the ladder among small GT cars of the 1960'es. The 1750 also marks the most significant facelift in the life of the model, when the original "stepnose" body received the smooth front. Often a facelift hasn't done the original design any good, but it's hard to argue that this is the case with the 1750.
We have taken this Series 2 through a "nut & bolt" restoration taking the car apart to empty body, stripping it for paint and bead blasting the entire shell. The areas that needed body work was done with new original parts and then it received a professional paintjob to a very high standard with several layers of primer, sealer, sound deadening material and top coat in the lovely original 1750 color of giallo ocra. Interior was completely redone in black leather to original patterns and new carpets inside and in trunk all made to measure by a professional upholsterer.
Suspension, steering and brakes are all new parts. Engine is completely rebuilt with new bearings, pistons and liners, new timing gear, water pump, cylinder head with new valves, valve guides etc. Gearbox was also rebuilt with new synchros, seals etc. New OEM Sachs clutch is fitted as is propshaft with new donut coupling, central support bearing and universal joints.
This car was sold new in Denmark and this car is quite simply stunning and today it would be difficult to do a restoration job on a similar car within the budget that buys this complete package of fashionable Italian Gran Turismo. See many more pictures on our web site by following the link above.
