1955 Wolseley 4/44 for sale by auction June 15th For Sale by Auction
1955 Wolseley 4/44
Reg. no. 292 UYJ
Chassis no. NAA 1321700
Engine no. 21808
The 4/44 was introduced by the British Motor Corporation in 1952, sharing much of its design with the MG Magnette ZA. Unlike the MG, the 4/44 used the 1,250cc XPAW engine, a version of the XPAG engine previously seen in the later MG T-type series of cars, but detuned by only having a single carburettor. The car had upmarket trim with a wooden dashboard and leather seats and a traditional Wolseley radiator grille with illuminated badge but was expensive at £997 on the home market. This 4/44 is described by our vendor as being in good all-round condition, and especially clean underneath. The body and paintwork are described as excellent, the interior does require some tidying. Said to run well, this car is offered with a V5c.
This and 60 other classic cars and motorcycles will be sold on June 15th at Allington, near Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN14 6LJ. All enquiries to 01249 444544 or look at the fully illustrated catalogue online at richardedmondsauctions.com
