Hotrod/Outlaw-style 911 based on non-SWB, early ‘B-Series’ RHD late-1968 shell, fully restored and modified using the best bits of every 911.

It’s an age-old saying that certain cars have had a money-no-object attempt to modifying them, but this one of the most delicately adapted Outlaws we’ve ever seen. The previous owner took their time to source an Australian shell, which was imported to the UK in the late-70s and created what they perceived to be the perfect 911.

Once you read the specification, we think you might agree. It was taken back to completely bare metal, had panels replaced as needed, a new Porsche floorpan and then completely undersealed. It was then taken to the Porsche specialists Zuffenhaus to make it special.

The car has an ‘S’ style front bumper with fibreglass outer/Kevlar inner front wings, 911R style doors, rear deck and bonnet with RS-style rear arches. The emphasis was to keep the car as lightweight as possible while using the best aircooled 911-style body parts. This Outlaw has a centre-filled lightweight fuel tank, too.

It’s powered by one of the most iconic Porsche lumps, a 2.7-litre engine, which started life as a very rare 1975 Factory high compression 2.7S, rebuilt by notable specialists, Zuffenhaus Porsche just 500 miles ago. Its high compression set-up with hotter ‘S’ cam and pitons, triple Webber carburettors, has stainless steel SSI heater boxes (which don’t rust like the originals and give better power), and straight-through ‘pea shooter’ exhaust.

At the same time as the engine build, it was also given a new clutch and ignition system and uses an original 901 dog-leg gearbox with close ratio gears. All of this is in near brand-new condition fitted less than 500 miles ago.

It’s as special inside as it looks outside with a carefully-designed interior. Fitted with a rear cage, Onassis Porsche harnesses on custom covered low-back Recaro seats, it’s driver-orientated with a Momo Prototipo syteeringwheel, custom door pulls and window straps for R doors and has lightweight carpets, black perforated headlining and rear seat pads.

Sitting with purposeful stance on lightweight three-piece Compomotive Fuchs wheels (7.5” front, 9” rear x 15”) they are painted in Anthracite with a polished lip and sit on fresh Toyo Proxes TR1s and new geometry and suspension set up. It has stand-out scripts, tastefully done, with custom PORSCHE writing to the side and rear, a Porsche GT3 crest bonnet sticker and bonnet stay from a Porsche 964 RS.

This 1968 911 Outlaw isn’t some low-cost RS replica, nor is it and stripped-out racer. It’s a car that has been lavished, well thought out and is reluctantly being sold via Duke of London.
