FOR SALE: A superb 1.6 GTI, 86k miles and just 4 owners from new.
Alpine White paintwork, Black and red chequered cloth upholstery, 14-inch “pepper pot” alloy wheels, Peugeot Clarion cassette radio, Sunroof, Reflective rear "GTI" trim, Three-spoke leather-trimmed GTI steering wheel, Digital clock, Front fog lights, Lockable glove compartment, Cigarette lighter, Ash tray, Spare wheel, Tailored carpet mats, Spare key.
Every bit the iconic hot hatch, this little 205 looks splendid with its Alpine White paintwork and contrasting GTI trim. The car presents to a great standard overall and remains free from any scrapes, scuffs, or damage to the bumpers. In addition to the glass sunroof this charming example also features the GTI rear reflector panel, a nice period accessory as fitted from new. As to be expected there are one or two minor blemishes on very close inspection, but nothing untoward for the age and mileage. All in all, an excellent example to be driven and enjoyed.
The 205’s uncluttered interior has really stood the test of time. The delicate cloth upholstery remains in great order throughout, with absolutely no rips or tears to be found to either the bolsters or chequered centre panels. On closer inspection the dash, fascia, and centre console all present well and maintain a remarkably fresh finish; even the original Clarion cassette player is still in place. The door cards are also pristine and the red carpet is still protected in the footwells by a set of tailored overmats in black.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The Peugeot has been well maintained over the years and is complete with a well documented service history, stretching from the first year of the car's life right up to the current mileage of 86k. The timing belt was most recently replaced at 83k miles. A new clutch was fitted at 76k miles. The MOT is valid until February 2020.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
Sitting on its original 14-inch pepper pot alloys the GTI has an assertive yet playful stance. The wheels are in very good condition and are free from any major curb marking, although there is some light age-related wear to the lacquer on the polished centres. They are shod in good quality tyres all round with ample tread remaining.
The 205 was first registered to a Mrs Roberston in April 1990. It was supplied new by Mayfield Garage Ltd in Halifax and cost £8,415.65 – as per the original bill of sale still present in the paperwork. The car has seen just four keepers and has driven a modest 86k miles from new.
Within the History File you'll find the dealer-supplied document pack with all the relevant manuals, the service booklet, an original accessories brochure and price list. There’s also a raft of invoices along every MOT certificate up until 2013. The service book is stamped at the following mileages: 2k, 3k, 13k, 36k, 40k, 45k, 48k, 53k, 59k, 63k, 67k, 70k, 73k, 79k, 82k, 83k, 85k, 86k, and most recently again at 86k miles.
