1972 Triumph MKII 2.5 PI Saloon PUBLIC AUCTION For Sale by Auction
The British Leyland Michelotti styled Triumph MKII model was launched in 1969 and was produced for 6 years when production ceased in 1975. The PI (petrol injection) variant received mixed reviews as the manufacturer struggled to develop this technology for the mass market. The vehicles came in either a 4-speed manual format or the 3 speed BorgWarner Automatic transmission.
This example entered the market in November 1972. It is currently an unfinished restoration project and appears to be been laid up for a considerable time. It is partially dismantled and not all components may be present. The automatic transmission, flywheel, oil cooler and torque converter currently reside in the boot. The electrical system may not be complete and there is no battery.
As is often the case the Lucas Fuel injection system has been removed and partially replaced with a twin SU carburettor set up.
The bodywork has had previous repairs and attempts at restoration and along with the chrome brightwork will need further attention. The blue velour interior appears to be the original fitment and will respond to sensitive repair.
Viewing is recommended to verify its condition and completeness of components.
The odometer of 65,386 cannot be verified having 5 former keepers. There is no documentation being offered at the time of auction. The completion of a V62 at an additional cost of £25 is required. It comes with one key.
