1972 classic vintage bar van catering coffee commer For Sale

Here we have a much loved 1972 Commer Highwayman converted tastefully into a vintage cocktail bar. Ready to go, fully functioning and tip top condition. The listing includes various cocktail paraphernalia and lots of glasses. So you could see this as a business ready to go. It is the rarer rounded rear end version of the Highwayman. A real head turner. And unlike most van conversions this vehicle really lends to it's final use. A great space with naturally comfortable serving height and brilliant working environment. It's a bit of a tardis being quite compact outside but bags of space inside. Ideal to be used as a Coffee shop, cake shop, sweet shop, flower shop, phone charging booth, ticket booth, promotion vehicle or anything you can think of. This van was overhauled a few years ago having been off the road for some years. This first overhaul focused on getting the mechanicals up to date and back body sorted. Coach built body was stripped and rebuilt where any rotten wood was found. Brakes were overhauled. An original replacement petrol engine was sourced which is very reliable using the SU carburettor for improved running. New fuel pump, starter motor and all electrics checked over. Then rear interior converted to a beautiful vintage serving space meeting h&s standards - double sink, running water, rubber floor etc. and Finally it had any body repairs carried out that were needed and finally a respray. It was then put into service. Having run the van for a few seasons at weddings last spring my partner moved onto pastures new in the business world and had the van dry stored for a season. Over the past winter the van has had another good going over for resale focusing this time on the cosmetics. Including a fresh respray as well as new cab floor – new cab interior and fully repainted in the rear. As well as all other cosmetics repaired, replaced and shined! We've also got some stainless steel hub caps on it now. Underneath it's been cleaned up and under-sealed so to preserve the very solid chassis that has had a good anti rust lead paint coating on for some time. There are some repairs to outriggers, the main chassis is in very good original condition. In the back... Features 240V hookup with breaker protected consumer unit. Several domestic 13amp sockets. A 240V glass fronted display fridge with sliding doors (looks as new). All up to date PAT tested. Locking rear door. Serving hatch. Super bright 12V LED lighting via a separate leisure battery which charges when on hook up. The van... Commers are creeping up in value and this is one of the rarer variants. It really stands out at events. Parts and panels are readily available and there's a great online presence of owners and enthusiasts. They are very easy to work on. Many of the components are common to lots of 70s era British vehicles and very cheap compared to modern vehicles. So it's very future proof. It is now MOT and Tax exempt as it's classed as a historic vehicle. Insurance is very cheap at around £100 a year on a classic policy. Other than that there isn't much to say. It has been looked after and everything works. Although you have to remember this is 50 year old British engineered van. so don't expect brakes like a Ferrari or doors shutting like a BMW. No service assist brakes here (although you can by a kit!). It's got a 4 speed box and sits happily at 40 or 50 at a push. Sit back and enjoy the drive.
