Comprehensively restored in the late 1990’s and garage-kept ever since. Still in great condition with no rust or previous bodged repairs. The odometer was reset to 0 when restored. The engine was fully rebuilt to Stage 2 at 12,000 miles by MGC specialists, MG Motorsport, and the odometer currently reads 29,140. MG Motorsport also lightened the flywheel, installed a reconditioned overdrive gearbox, new polybushes. thicker torsion bars and a quick steering rack. The car comes on unmarked minilite replicas, the hood is nearly new and the seats and interior excellent. It also comes with the unique registration plate, MGC 229D.
I have owned several MGs during my life and this car is the one that always puts the biggest grin on my face when driving. It is rare and superb to drive with a surprisingly revvy engine and no understeer. The Downton exhaust makes a truly wonderful sound. Having owned this car for nearly 13 years, I am only selling because I have just completed a V8 conversion of the MGB Roadster I recently inherited from my father and am unable to keep both cars.
