Jaguar MKIX 1960 - To be auctioned 26-07-19 For Sale by Auction

The vendor states that “these Mark IX were the first post-war 100 miles per hour, luxury saloons made by the company. This particular car left the factory in June ’60 and was a demonstrator for Lex Garages, Piccadilly and remained with them until December ’61 when it passed into the ownership of A J Miles Ltd. It was then purchased in 1969 by Mr. B.A. DaCosta until I purchased it in the early eighties. The car had been out of use for the 7 – 8 years prior to my ownership and the work carried out included a complete brake overhaul in ‘81/’82, incidentally in 2002 the front brakes were replaced with “Coopercraft” brake system. During ’81/’82 the bodywork was stripped to the bare metal, repaired where required and re-finished and a new radiator was fitted. Carburettors have been overhauled and in 2017 electronic ignition was fitted. The only reason I am selling this car is purely for the lack of use.” Auctioneers Notes: The providence of this car is second to none. Entered by the vendor who purchased her in the eighties – that is a long time ago – Coming with the car is a set of workshop manuals including a pamphlet on “tuning and synchronising the twin carbs” plus the original handbook. The history file includes a comprehensive invoice file from ’98 – now, a MOT file from ’84 – June ’17, importantly she has the original buff log book. Incidentally, the car has matching numbers. This car has a lovely patina and is in very good, solid condition (not a show queen). She has nearly full tool kits, situated in both front doors and the original sheep skin over mats in the rear passenger compartment. The advertising slogan of the day for these great cars was “GRACE SPACE PACE”. This delightful car may be viewed by appointment. Please note: It is believed by the vendor that the mileage is correct. Unfortunately, although we have a list of the vehicle’s owners and the car has been with the vendor for the last 40 odd years, we do not have enough service or MOT history to validate it.
