1972 Jensen Interceptor Mk III - LS3 Conversion For Sale
This car is not your normal Jensen Interceptor. The car we have for commissioned sale on behalf of the owner is a fire breathing monster of an Interceptor. All restored to look like a fairly standard car with modern (GKN copy) 17” alloy wheels and tyres.
Look beneath the gunmetal grey exterior and subtle red leather and you will find a modern 6.3 litre LS3 engined car with Jaguar independent rear suspension.
So the big question you really want to know before anything mundane like apple car play stereo is…… “How does it drive?”
The answer is, quite simply phenomenal. The acceleration is ridiculously fast, the speed at which this car can go round corners defies belief and all done whilst sat in such luxurious surroundings. It sounds amazing too.
The only exception to the ‘look as standard as possible’ brief was the silver radio grill in the centre console that opens via an actuator and switch to reveal a double din Alpine head unit with the aforementioned apple car play, and the extra steering column stalk for the cruise control.
We could write paragraph after paragraph on what has been done to this car, for example, how the rear axle has been laser precision set for maximum performance together with a matching bespoke propshaft, all done by a chap that did the set up for the 1000bhp Bristol Fighter. The huge brake kit to both front and rear that make this car stop like a modern supercar, the list is almost endless and much better discussed whilst viewing the car
It’s this attention to detail that really makes this car shine.
The fact that it still retains its Historic status (free RFL, no requirement to MOT – even though it does have a current certificate) is a big bonus for a car that can be used everyday. Couple that to the fact that this Interceptor can achieve 26+ mpg (the standard car is 12-15mpg) on a long run and all of a sudden this car begins to make much more sense that buying a modern Porsche or Aston V8 Vantage.
