1978 '78 rhd westfalia continental For Sale
Every now and again a very special camper comes onto the market, i've known this bus for many years, having known the previous family who owned it and the current owners. A former show winner, previously owned for 15 years and professionally restored to a high standard 11 years ago. When lee asked me to find a new owner for his much cherished camper, i knew the right family to love it. I've known darren for over 45 years, in fact he is my oldest friend having met when we started infant school all those years ago. So you can imagine the responsibilty i felt when, he asked me to find him the perfect camper for he and his family to enjoy, this was the bus i chose. They have enjoyed some great adventures in the time they've owned "suzie" and are heart broken to be parting with her, but due to business expansion the decision has been made. To find a right hand drive westfalia is extremely rare and to find one , so complete, so original and in such beautiful condition is truly special. "Suzie", left the volkswagen factory in 1978, destined for the uk shores, she is finished in dakota beige l13a with some really cool period graphics. There is nothing to do on the bodywork at all, as she has been looked after so well. As you can see she has an elevating roof with quality canvas and large double bed in the roof. She's propelled by her 2litre type 4 engine, which is regularly serviced as are all the mechanics to keep her in tip top shape. Its the little details like the deluxe rubber trim on the bumpers, the chrome hub caps and the original westfalia tow bar, that all add to the overall package. She even has a rare and hugely useful amescador rear awning, which gives you the ability to have both double beds set up, whilst still utilizing the seating area to full advantage. Since owning "suzie", darren and paula have had all the original seats and rear cushions reupholstered in the fabulous orange plaid westfalia fabric and installed matching og curtains. The camper even has its original stool and wedge cushion, again reupholstered and making the bus complete, as so very often missing, from a 41 year old bus. The continental westfalia conversion was so well designed, featuring a wardrobe, a sink, twin burner hob, cutlery drawer and cooler. Theres so much well thought out storage for all those adventures. This bus drives so nicely, with good steering, brakes and gear selection. No end float on the engine, its lovely. We've got a massive history file to go with the bus and has recently been re-mot'd. "Suzie", on display at our garage in braunton, north devon. £25,000.
