For sale is my series II vogue sporting a 1725cc Humber Sceptre engine and gearbox transplant, complete with overdrive, and Humber sceptre carb. The car is a bit tatty both inside and out, but it is complete, everything works and it's original.
The good points include it having new pistons and a rebore, new core plugs and new wings (fitted by previous owner) all painted up in the correct colour, a nice chunky history file dating back decades, and the seats have been fitted with new webbing underneath so that they feel like new (this alone cost me £160). The Overdrive gearbox feels like new (I have much experience of 60s Rootes cars) and all the synchromesh and selectors really do operate like a new 'box. Obviously the overdrive works perfectly as well. The car is fitted with a stainless steel exhaust into the bargain. The best thing is that it has the standard rear axle (3.89:1) and not the axle fitted to the overdrive cars (4.22:1). As a result it is high geared and (when fully sorted) will cruise comfortably a motorway speeds and beyond).
The bad points. Well, basically like I said above - it's tatty. The pictures look quite smart I know, but I am not going to hood wink you into thinking this is a condition 1 car. It is condition 2. I paid silly money for it, spent quite a sum on parts etc. but ill health means I can't finish the job. It needs the engine setting up properly and it would of course benefit from a bit of bodywork and a bit of interior refurbishment etc......
Anyway, I am offering it for sale for a giveaway, so I don't really need to sell it to you! If you want it for parts, repair or banger racing - it's is cheap. I need it gone so I can't be looking for what it owes me. I have the V5C and keys of course and I think it still has MOT even though it does not need one.
