Triumph GT6 Mk2. This car has received an extensive and sympathetic restoration whilst retaining its originality, the driving experience has been enhanced with sensible upgrades. Built in 1970 with a factory specification of primrose yellow, black upholstery and an optional rear occasional seat.
The V5 is in my name and I have owned the car for the past 15 months the previous owner purchased the car in 1984 and parked it up approximately 1992 where it sat in his garage until I purchased it 16 years later.
The chassis and running gear were excellent but parts of the car had suffered from rust.
The restoration has included the replacement of both rear wings, both doors skins, sills and front valance all with heritage panels. A replacement bonnet was sourced and bead blasted to bear metal. With the glass out and doors and fittings removed the car was repainted using 2k paint in its factory colour. The panel gaps are excellent all round probably the best I have seen on a GT6
New carpets and door cards have been fitted and the original seats installed. All interior fittings are present.
The brakes have been extensively restored including new callipers, discs, backing plates, pads, pins, shims. The original master cylinder has been restored all metal pipes have been replaced with copper and all rubber hoses have been replaced. New rear wheel cylinders and springs / fixings where necessary.
The whole clutch has been replaced including the slave cylinder, copper pipe installed and the original clutch master restored.
The correct CD150 carbs have been professionally restored. All hoses have been replaced and it has a new water pump. The fuel pump has been replaced and the fuel tank has been refurbished inside and out. The sump was removed for resealing and the crank shaft end float was checked which was well within tolerance. All new service items leads, plugs etc. The engine pulls well with no smoke or rattles. No syncro issues with the gearbox, nice tight gear change.
The car has a new windscreen, retaining rubber and trim, the door rubbers have been replaced with the correct fur flex style. New rear screen rubber and hatch rubber.
Spax adjustable shock absorbers are fitted all round. New bushes where required. New track rod ends, trunnions , anti roll bar bushes and ball joints.
The rear rotoflex drive shafts have been replaced with he preferred Canley classics UJ units
Stainless steel exhaust from the TSSC
New matching tyres, battery and battery leads.
The above is just the bits that spring to mind many other parts have been refurbished or replaced.
The car comes with a large history file some previous MOTs etc the mileage is 64000 and although I don't have the documentation to back this up I have no reason not to believe it, especially as it has been off the road for so many years.
Viewing 2 miles off M1 J13 in Bedfordshire. Many more pictures on request. Transport can be arranged if you don't fancy the drive.
