Here is the reluctant sale of my lovely 1964 Rover P4. This is the top of the range 110 model - a prestigious car in it's day.The bodywork is very solid throughout, the car runs smoothly,as you would expect from a rover and the original interior is clean and spacious - with that classic look of leather and wood trim - even the clock and Motorola radio are intact and working.
The car is not perfect. The two-tone paintwork is generally good but as could be expected on a 55 year old vehicle, there are a couple of areas that could easily be improved. The chrome is presentable rather than immaculate, but good throughout. Overall, the car presents very well - smart with a patina that enhances rather than detracts from the P4's good looks. The car has been taken to several shows and has been much admired and draws a favourable comment wherever it goes.
Much money has been spent keeping this car in good order. There is a new full stainless steel exhaust, electronic ignition with new distibutor ,new lockheed servo, new starter,a full set of fully felted coverdale carpets fitted. Within the last 1,800 miles the vehicle had a complete brake overhaul which comprised; Front - new discs, calipers and pads, new flexi hoses. Rear - new drums, brake shoes, wheel cylinders and flexi hoses.A new brake master cylinder and brake light switch were fitted and all brake pipes renewed in copper.
All fluids have been changed and the car has a recent full service.Everything is in full working order - with one exception - the overdrive has stopped working the car cruises fine without it,and doesn't slip which I am told is a good sign. The reason that I'm selling the car is that a friends classic car (which I've badgered him for ages to sell me)has unexpectedly come up for sale - at very short notice. There wouldn't be time for me to have the overdrive sorted, so I've allowed for this in the asking price.
Hello, I haven't got a name and unfortunately my current owner doesn’t know a lot about my past, but has a list of my five owners from new and was purchased by my fifth owner with only 80,000 miles.....
This well loved Rover P4 , has been dry stored after its restoration 10 years ago.
Underneath has been wax oiled and all the body work and interior was restored
to this present day immaculate example......
