We are delighted to offer this magnificent, 1960 registered period Jaguar C Type recreation onto the market. ADX 10 is one of those very special, carefully built recreations that appears remarkably correct with an aged, original but super high-quality feel. Not only does it look and feel correct, it is incredible to drive with outstanding performance and sound. The car was built during the early 1980’s but in 1986 was purchased by a meticulous, diligent professional engineer who has built cars his whole life. The Jaguar was part complete and its new owner took on dismantling it further and then completing a build before beginning to tour with the car. Despite completing and using the car during the late 1980's and early 1990's, in 1998/1999, the owner of over 30 years gained access to a genuine Jaguar C Type and decided to strip the car down and completely start again with a plan to build the ultimate recreation that he would then later tour Europe with.

With access to the original, a brand new dimensionally correct chassis was built for the car with correct tubular and rectangle sections, and front space frame. The engineer using cardboard moulds from the original car, made exact replica aluminium panels to include floor pans, rear inner wing coverings and all internal panels such as the cockpit and bulkhead. He then used a specialist boat builder to make a GRP body skin which he then fitted to the car. Alloy louvres and mounting points were also fitted, and the underside alloy. The Jaguar was built as a production Jaguar C Type and colour choices were made based on XKC 029 which competed in the 1953 Carrera Panamericana and was sponsored by the Mexican government.

The engine was stripped and rebuilt and is a correct 3.4 Jaguar unit with Rob Beere Racing 9:1 Powertune 3.4 pistons and standard bearings. Performance is further enhanced with modified cams, ported head and original C Type exhaust manifolds and high capacity sump. The engine is exceptional with ferocious power, superb oil pressure and the four-speed moss gearbox with overdrive makes for a wonderful long distance touring car. The Jaguar boasts Ashwater Zues disc brakes, shocks all round, live rear axle and special order front and rear offset C Type hubs to enable fitting of the correct 16" C-Type wheels. This wonderful creation has all correct instrumentation and switch gear, C Type steering wheel, hand made cloth covered wiring loom from the original suppliers, correct fixing straps, fuse boxes, light unit and bonnet locks making this such a correct period looking example. On completion of the build in 2008, the long term owner and his wife covered thousands and thousands of miles across Europe. The C Type has toured France, Germany, Switzerland, has handled minus degrees temperatures and coped perfectly with hot weather. The Jaguar proved faultless and totally reliable over thousands of miles touring the UK and Europe.

In May 2019 the Jaguar was taken to Guy Broad for over £6,000 of work that included rebuilding the cylinder head with new valve guides, new springs, cam bearings plus skimming and polishing. All pedals and fittings were removed and re-fitted to a more forward position for a more comfortable driving position, push rods were re-manufactured and the accelerator re made as a cable operation conversion. Finally, the engine was tuned, treated to an engine oil change and correct number plate painting attended too. As result, the C Type is now ready to go, fully prepared, driving superbly and ready to tour the UK and Europe some more. ADX 10 comes with a detailed history file but most importantly, this carefully prepared car looks and drives like a true, genuine C Type, something today that is incredibly difficult to achieve.
