1934 Austin 7 Beaufort Special SOLD

1934 AUSTIN 7 Beaufort Special
BXA 259

Offered for sale a superbly built Austin 7 special, one of 3 specials constructed by the late Engineer Michael Williams and Colin Ladd of Beaufort restorations.

In lovely condition and with a pleasing light patina, this Beaufort special was the last of three to be built, with its handsome ash frame and design inspired by the J2 MG, this attractive two-seater is a major step forward from the often workman like specials commonly built by amateurs on the Austin chassis.

The current owner discovered Beaufort had one unfinished body kit (from the initial run in the 1980s) and subsequently purchased the kit of chassis and bodywork back in 2009. He proceeded to commission some of the most well-known, Austin 7 specialists to build the car for him.

The chassis was built up by the renowned Pigsty Engineering, with dropped front axle and flattened road springs to their usual high standard.
Austin 7 expert and engineer Robert Foreman built the engine utilising the best parts, including a phoenix crank, fast road cam, high compression head, SU carburettor and four branch exhaust manifold all mated to a Vince Leek 4 speed close ratio gearbox and Eltos remote gear lever.
These really are some of the best names in the Austin Seven world, as a result the car drives delightfully and has been used extensively for continental touring by its current custodians.

Fitted with Brooklands screens currently, it also has a full windscreen, hood with detachable peak and full and half tonneau.

Running and driving very well, with 10, 000 touring miles completed since its original build, this rare and well-built special is now reluctantly offered for sale due to the owner’s commitment to other projects.

An ideal car for fast road work, 750 club trials or the plethora of touring events to which this car is highly suited, the car comes with current V5 registration document and large history file.
