1995 730i - Barons Tuesday 16th July 2019 For Sale by Auction
The BMW 7 Series has been produced by BMW since 1977. It is the successor to the BMW E3 "New Six" saloon and is currently in its sixth generation. The 7 Series is BMW's flagship car and is only available as a sallon or long wheel base limousine. It traditionally introduces technologies and exterior design themes before they trickle down to other models in BMW's range.
The first generation 7 Series was powered by straight 6 petrol engines, and following generations have been powered by straight 6, V8 and V12 engines with both natural aspiration and turbocharging. Since 1995, diesel engines have been included in the 7 Series range.
This car is a very early E38 model. It was first registered to a BMW main dealer as a demo car and shortly afterwards was purchased by a Mr Eddie Meyer. It was originally registered in his company's name and was subsequently transferred to his personal name but overall it was Mr. Meyer's personal car from 1995 until 2011, at which time he replaced it. However, rather than selling it then, he parked it in a garage inside a warehouse and left it there. In 2016 the vendor was talking to Mr Meyer about renting the warehouse and became aware of the car that he had left there. He purchased it from him and put it back on the road. At the time it underwent a Full Service, some suspension work and was fitted with four new tyres. He has owned the car for the past three years and used it sparingly over that time. It has only covered a few thousand miles in his ownership. Mileage is currently showing at 93,333 and the vendor is very confident that it is genuine as he knows Mr. Meyer and that he was the only user of the car throughout most of its life. In addition, there is early history from BMW, early MOT certificates as well as more recent history.
Mechanically the car is in excellent condition. The engine and gearbox both run smoothly and the vendor is not aware of any issues. Indeed he says it is a dream to drive and very comfortable. During his ownership he has carried out some improvements to the bodywork. Whilst in good condition overall, it is not perfect as would be expected of a car that is nearly 25 years old. The interior of the car is in good condition overall for its age and is fitted with grey leather trim. This car is fitted with (working) climate control which was an extra at the time. In addition it has electric windows, electric sunroof, electric seat controls, cruise control, radio cassette and 6 CD autochanger etc. It is fitted with a period mobile phone which is not presently operational.
The car comes with the original owners handbooks, early history from BMW main dealer, early MoT certificates as well as recent MoT and service history for work carried out during the vendors ownership. The car was fitted with a new battery in January 2018 and recently (Feb 2019) had the suspension lower arm bushes replaced on both sides. The car has just passed an MoT with no advisories.
Overall it is an original and highly usable E38 model with low mileage that could be used as everyday transport.
