1969 Lotus Elan +2 with 2.0 Zetec 16v conversion For Sale
For sale, partially restored 1969 Elan +2, I bought it nearly 3 years ago as a rolling chassis and a box of bits, expecting to get it on the road in about 8 weeks, it took me about 2 years but the good news is all the hard work has been done. When I bought the car, it had been off the road for a while but the back story was it was professionally restored around 2005 for a senior gentleman who wanted to use it as a daily driver, to that extent, it had a crate engine Zetec fitted as well as a range of additional mods for regular use, but it needed a lot of work when I got it. So far, I’ve fitted solid drive shafts, replacement rear wishbones, I’ve polybushed it all-round except for new rubber bushes on the anti-roll bars, it’s also had a replacement rear differential. I then fitted a new dashboard, new carpets, Bluetooth radio and USB charging sockets, externally I’ve added under-slung driving lamps, and a rear fog light. The clock shows just under 6000 miles, which I understand is the correct mileage since it was reset when previously restored, it would benefit from a respray, the current colour is an Opel blue metallic, but the existing paint is not bad as it shows the patina of age, I’ve put less than 500 miles on it during my ownership. The 2.0 Ford Zetec, with twin Dellorto 45’s and married to the original Lotus four speed is a lovely match and the big bore exhaust sounds, great, I had it professionally tuned at RE Performance of Bury and the Zetec produced 150bhp on the rolling road. It comes with the +2S bonnet and wheels, a bunch of spares and a file of papers showing work done to date, it is an appreciating classic and is now at the point where it is usable but my plans are changing and I need to sadly sell it – any inspection welcome.
