1965 Triumph TR4A-IRS (Surrey top)
Born in Coventry on the 19th August 1965 this car was shipped to Leyland Albion (CA) Ltd in Salisbury Rhodesia 1 week later on the vessel Clan Macleod
Research suggests that the car was owned by 2 private individuals in that country until an English Doctor purchased the car in 1979 whence it was taken to Durban where an engine rebuild was completed in the early 2000's
This owner repatriated the vehicle in 2011 when he returned to the UK where a professional UK restorer purchased the vehicle and began a major and total "body off" restoration. Sadly, ill health intervened and the almost completed project was put into dry storage until 2018.
It was then purchased by the current owner (a dedicated Triumph enthusiast) who completed the restoration and is now offering the car for sale.
The high quality restoration is evidenced by the near perfect shut lines and impeccable paintwork.
Finished in the original colour of Signal Red and complemented by a beautifully patinated red leather interior this car presents extremely well and wears the original steel wheels and “banjo” steering wheel and is furnished with new black carpets and boot trim.
Mechanically, this newly Mot’d and fully serviced car starts readily and pulls strongly through the crisp 4 speed gearbox aided by the fully functioning overdrive on 2nd 3rd & 4th gears and sounds wonderful through the stainless steel twin pipe exhaust system.
The “Surrey” (Targa) top completes this rare and very desirable “matching numbers” car which has undergone a painstaking and complete restoration.
The car is now available for viewing in Norfolk and is priced very competitively @ £29750.
Recognising that some aspiring owners might have a vehicle to sell, a transaction involving a part exchange may be considered.
