1993 VOLVO 240 TORSLANDA - RARE ORIGINAL VOLVO For Sale
1993 VOLVO 240 TORSLANDA
104,000 Genuine Miles
100 % Original & Unaltered
The Torslanda was the run-out version of the 240. It was based on the 240DL - the
base spec - but had really smart alloys and a few extra black rather than chrome
trim bits not found on the standard models. It was built during the period 92 to
93, and was available in a limited selection of colours - red, blue, silver or
white only. Many will argue that the 240 is the best Volvo ever - strong,
straightforward, easy to look after, hugely roomy, very reliable and well-built.
Comfortable, pretty economical, and with something of a presence on the
Very few of this special model were made. They were made primarily for use in
Sweden, as they were specially equipped for surviving snow and ice in freezing
winters. These cars can be identified by Torslanda badging, tinted windows, plastic
exterior trim (as opposed to chrome, which will rust in snowy conditions),
multi-spoke 14" alloy wheels, and full-length body striping above the rocker
panels. The interior featured only the bare minimum of extras with no electric
mirrors, windows, cruise control, air conditioning and no leather upholstery.
Because the freezing temperatures could cause luxurious accessories to break
down more often than usual, the only features were heated front seats, power
steering and all the standard heating systems. All the better for it.
There’s something reassuring about the understated appeal of cars like this,
the 240 exudes restrained charm and has a fuss-free way of covering long
journeys while cocooning occupants in a beguilingly luxurious cabin. The
Volvo excels ergonomically. The cabin feels light, airy and uncluttered, with
plenty of room for front and rear passengers. The seating and driving position
both feel instantly comfortable and, this being a Volvo, stalks and switches
engage with a reassuringly secure ‘thunk’ or ‘click’. The characteristics of
the engine and the sumptuousness of the interior suggest it is a strong choice
for long motorway tours. Original bookpack with owners manul intact.
There is an array of bills of late with quite a lot of money being spent on
servicing and a cambelt change at 96000 miles. The MOT is valid until August
2019 however are happy to renew it. The car has a useful hard plastic boot
tray, and a hardy set of rubber over mats. It also features a tow bar.
this is a 5 owner car.

Fully Synthetic, it’s ran on this oil for the past 4k and runs very well on it.
There is minor lacquer peel on the bonnet, and an indent on the nearside rear
quarter. Never been welded before.
The weather has been poor so have not had the chance to properly valet and detail
it, this will be done including a full engine detail, it will come up superbly.
The interior is remarkable, so well preserved. The body is 100% solid, top below
and underside. Very much has to be seen and driven to be fully appreciated.
These models are experiencing a serious revival in prices currently with many
of them being exported beyond our shores into Europe, it would be fitting if
the new owner was to keep this car on our island. This car pulls more glances
and incites more conversation than a new 911, believe me. I pulled into a
fuel station today and spent an hour talking randomly to people who approached
me, the stuff legends were built on.
black, interior finished in light gray and mint green fabric, whitewall tires, hubcaps and wheel trims in chrome look, heater (in this model not standard!), split rear window, mud flaps on the rear.....
