1986 Much Loved Big Cat For Sale
This Cherished Big Cat has been part of the family since 2004 and has been regularly maintained by an independent specialist in Hertfordshire. The current mileage is 71,000 however I understand that the Speedometer was changed, prior to it coming into my late fathers possession, and that the true mileage is c100,000 miles. The car comes with a comprehensive MOT record back to 2004 and lots of receipts for work carried out during that time. Since I took over ownership earlier this year the vehicle obtained an MOT, had welding work done in the area of both rear suspension mountings, visited the body shop, had a leaking windscreen resealed as well as benefiting from 2 new tyres and a battery. The car, throughout the last 15 years has been garaged and its general condition reflects this. Research indicates that less that 1,000 of the “Straight Six” version of this car were made and that fewer than 100 still exist. To add to this rarity is the unusual headlight configuration. My inquiries indicate that this particular vehicle was originally designated for export to the USA and the headlight adaptation was required to conform with that countries legislation. However the cars never made it “across the pond” and were put on sale in the UK. At a recent Classic Jaguar event at the National Motor Museum there was only 1 other XJ-SC of a similar specification out of several hundred mixed Jags. The Targa roof is in good condition, for its age ,and has benefited from an element of refurbishment in recent years. A full respray was carried in 2008, and whilst the current colour is not one that would have been offered at the time of manufacture I am of the understanding that it s a Jaguar colour. At the time of this respray custom graphics were fitted to mirror those of other XJ-S models of the period and were renewed earlier this year. The car drives well, all the electrics work and has been throughly examined by my local garage, that I have used for the last 15 years, who report no significant issues and belies it’s 33 year age. C372JAT would make a great “First Classic” or an ideal basis for an enthusiast looking for an opportunity to do a full restoration.
