A rare opportunity to purchase a quite rare Wolseley 4/50. 'Wilbur' was born in 1951 as a 1476cc 50hp saloon dressed in his distinctive black coat complimented with contrasting full ox-blood red leather interior. The front seats are not period but very comfy and the rear seats are showing their original untouched 'patina'. He starts on first push of the starter and runs well having the added benefit of an upgraded 1796cc 90hp engine from a 1961 MGB GT ~ nearly double the power!. Wilbur has been treated to a lot of work over the years and this shows in a lovely solid structure both internally and externally. The black paintwork will buff-up and polish nicely. Also on the mechanical side Wilbur was treated to an unleaded head, new tyres, new brake cylinders, big end shells, oil seals, clutch etc and is now ready for a little bit of work to bring it up to your standard. "TO USE & IMPROVE ~ ROLLING PROJECT". Superb tyres all round. Door gaps all good as are the door bottoms. Floor pans, boot and chassis 'ALL SOLID & ORIGINAL'. Over sixty eight years young this lovely Wolseley is tax exempt and very economical to insure under classic insurance. Historic tax (free of course). MOT exempt.

The Wolseley 4/50 and similar 6/80 were Wolseley Motors' first post-war automobiles. They were put into production in 1948 and were based on the Morris Oxford MO and the Morris Six MS respectively. The 4-cylinder 4/50 used a 1476 cc 50 hp (37 kW; 51 PS) version of the 6/80 engine.

The cars featured a round Morris rear end and upright Wolseley grille and were used extensively by the police at the time – the 6/80 particularly.

These models were built at Morris's Cowley factory alongside the 'Oxford'. They were replaced in 1953 and 1954 by the Wolseley 4/44 and 6/90.
