Brought back in early March this year having been purchased from an old gentleman in Masseube, S.W.France! The originality & patination is emphasised by the two dealer's transfers on the back & front mudguards showing that it was purchased in Toulouse. It is complete with its toolbox/toolkit.....&, of course, it has the iconic '3800' red strip across the top of the engine, that has not faded like so many have!
It needs some fettling as it is not running due to lack of spark - probably a condensor or similar - it pedals & when the engine is engaged it turns over nicely with good compression. (Restoration would ruin it!)
Would make a marvellous pitbike at the Goodwood Revival/any historic race meeting........& this is what no lesser a personage than Steve McQueen used the same model for on the set of 'Le Mans' in 1970! (I will attach a couple of pics, to prove but if you google 'Velosolex 3800' you will see a sequence of photos incl. some evocative ones in black & white!) I would respectfully suggest that if it was good enough for the 'King of Cool' it's good enough for you!
BUT if you are still not convinced, it is incredibly portable being able to be picked up by someone of average strength & can be transported in a hatchback/estate car...(I've had it in the back of a Honda Civic Sport!)
(Should anyone want a 'his & her' Velosolex duo then I will let the restored, orange, '74 5000 one go with this one for a grand!)
this is a rarity with all documents, only 1000 made from first series and only 60 left .. The company built the engines by themselfes. Thank you for your interest, it came from a Bologna museum. 150cc,.....
