1939 MG VA Saloon SOLD

Not for sale - it has been sold via a Car and Classic Free Ad
Reluctantly for sale due to personal circumstances. Rare MG VA Saloon, first registered on 18 February 1939. Full ownership history from 1950, probably from new (old handwritten documents hard to read). ‘Continuation’ logbook dated 1950. MOT Certificates from 1965. Seven registered owners including present.

Extensively restored, much by marque specialist SVW Spares at a cost of around £30,000 between 2002 and 2004. Approximately 2500 miles since 2005. This included a respray, new leather interior, headlining, carpets, new wire wheels and splines, new Dunlop tyres, new rear springs, engine rebuild, brakes overhauled, front suspension overhaul, including new king-pins, and other mechanical work.

Recently recommissioned and serviced and now in excellent, overall condition, eminently useable with some patina. The engine and transmission are good, with good oil pressure. It starts and stops as it should. There are a few blemishes in the paintwork, consistent with the age of the restoration. It has flashing indicators incorporated in the original sidelights, working in conjunction with the trafficators. Otherwise, the car is generally to its original specification.

Current MOT certificate expires 8 January 2020, although the car is exempt from MOT due to age. It is also exempt from Road Tax.

Original ‘Continuation’ logbook from 1950, original Instruction Manual, modern copies of the original Instruction Manual and Service Parts List included with the car. The badges and mascots on the car in the photos are part of my collection and are not included in the sale. Their removal will not leave any holes.

For further information or photographs, please contact me either by email or phone. I live on the Isle of Wight. If you want to avoid the cost of the car ferry, I will gladly meet you at the passenger ferry terminal and return you after you have seen the car.

The car is currently insured with an agreed value of £35,000. I understand that there are about 10 VA Saloons in the UK currently roadworthy
