I'm selling my Mitsubishi Jeep. It is a 2.7 litre diesel with it's original Mitsubishi 4DR5 engine. This Jeep was made by Mitsubishi under licence from Jeep USA and based on the CJ3B. The Japanese did what Japanese car manufacturers do and improved considerably on the original, keeping the best parts and improving the rest.
The J54 was developed to compete with other manufacturers in military procurement and other government competitions. There were 250 vehicles built to compete in various configurations. The serial number of my Jeep is J54 00041. This places it in the original batch and quite rare.
I imported the Jeep from Japan in 2017. The Jeep was partially restored and I finished the process. Rust was cut out and fresh steel welded in. The only fillers used was on the welded joints. The chassis is entirely original and rust free. The electrical systems didn't work so I rewired the whole Jeep replacing switches etc.I also introduced relays to control various services. The voltage system is 24V with a separate supply for 12V instruments.
Although unusual and rare, parts and consumables such as filters are easily available and shared with early Pajero and Canters. I didn't go for a concourse restoration. I wanted a driveable reliable and fun classic Jeep. Although well capable, I don't off road this Jeep. I've included one photo of my Jeep in snow and it is truly remarkable how it handled heavy snow on our local roads.
The Warn Winch fitted does a four tonne pull and an expensive piece of kit in it's own right.
Now the ground rules:
No swaps or trade ins. This car is in Ireland, not Japan!
