We have a unique NSU Konsul 1 with Steib S500 sidecar. The current Belgian owner found this unique 350cc sidecar combination in Marmagen, Germany in 2015. Over more than a year, between 2015-2016, this owner commissioned it full restoration and mechanical rebuild to perfection. A Dutch classical motorcycle specialist carried out this restoration in Holland. Neither cost nor effort was spared during this process. Not a single detail was overlooked in bringing this combination to its current absolute concourse state. This NSU is now fully complete with even the original Denfeld Duo seat, original tool kit with manual grease pump and original ‘Kluge Kopfe Konsul’ brochure. All serial numbers and stamped numbers were checked during disassembling motorcycle. The engine block has the WaA691 (Waffen Amt) number and Eagle stamp, as well as the OZ74*435095 number. The OZ74 indicates the low octane level of 74, Oktanzahl in German. Clearly the fuel quality was a lot poorer during the war. It also shows that NSU built this engine in 1939 for use by the German Wehrmacht. After the Second World War NSU continued to produce motorcycles using parts and technology available. This explains the presence of a 1939 engine pared with a 1952 frame. The NSU has the rare S500 Steib sidecar with its splendid famous ‘Bullet-Nose’. The sidecar has also been fully restored and is in a superb state. It has a black with gold pinstripe finish with a red vinyl seat. This is a uniquely available motorcycle in pristine concourse condition, the like of which we seldom see!
