Classic Car Design offers you ...
... a mythical Renault 5 Turbo.
Derived from the Renault 5 series, the R5 Turbo project was born at the end of the 70s with the aim of developing a car for Groups 3 and 4 of the FIA.
Equipped with the Cléon cast iron engine with aluminum cylinder head and turbocharger with air / air exchanger, mounted in a central rear position, the R5 Turbo was assembled in the Dieppe Alpine plant. The specific undercarriages of this version will also be included in part on the Alpine A310.
Numbered 237 this car registered in October 1980, is part of the first series of R5 Turbo whose opening and roof are made with aluminum.
Never restored, always maintained, it is in very good state of conservation. A beautiful painting has come to revive the Olympic blue colour. The 4 original wheels are equipped with Michelin TRX.
Inside, we find Bertone's signature with seats, a dashboard and the famous steering wheel specific to the first series. Seats, carpet and plastic are very well preserved although they are soon 40 years old.
A very complete invoice file shows that this car has always been maintained. For almost 20 years, she belonged to a member of Renault's Engineering Department.
Originally this version developed 160hp, a kit marketed by Renault Sport with a specific air exchanger was installed in 1985 and carries the power 185ch (invoice present).
In a beautiful interior, exterior and mechanical condition, this rare R5 Turbo model makes us travel in the glorious Turbo years of Renault.
