1959 Austin Healey 3000 mk1 Jamaican Historic race car
I purchased this car from its first UK Owner 4 years ago in need of restoration , being a keen racer decided to restore it into a period race car
Originally an ivory white LHD Mk1 sold in the USA .
Converted to a Jamaican in the late 60`s in California
Fibrefab produced numerous bodies for home build sports cars in the 60`s and the Jamaican being loosely styled on a Muira was in my view one of the most attractive
The companys owner Warren " Bud " Goodwin actually named the Jamaican after his wife
The restoration involved a shotblasting of the Healey chassis which had new metal let in where required and power coated
The mechanicals were all fully rebuilt or replaced to full race spec , most items from Dennis Welch Healeys . Suspension , brakes engine components , collapsible steering column , tramp bars .
The engine was built by Richard Parker and was freshened up this season with a steel crank , new rods , it now produces 285bhp on a bench dyno and revs to 7000rpm . Has ran for 4.5 hours
The Gearbox was built by Adrian Wynn and has done 7 hours , complete with competition overdrive
Aluminium bucket seats were made and covered in leather , door cards leather look and dash is healey covered in leather
Aluminium Radiator and fuel tank which will happily run a 45 minute race , might squeeze an hour but never tried it myself
Up to date fire extinguisher
Meets current regs for the HRDC who I have raced the car with for 4 years with success and a few outright wins
Best lap at Donnington 1.26.4 , best lap at Silverstone National 1.11.5 so it goes well and can compete against some front runners
Accepted by several clubs for racing , many grids and events to go and enjoy
Currently running 6.00 x 15 Dunlop L section tyres
Will be sold with a set of 5 new tyres and a paid for entry into Castle Coombe with the HRDC on 5th October
A ready to go race car to full race spec for the fraction of the cost to have one built . The steel crank upgrade alone was £10,000 a full race engine like this is £30k
Would be great to see this rare car continue with the HRDC a club I have and will continue to enjoy racing with .
V5 in my name and currently taxed , I do use it on the road occasionally
Only selling to fund imminent upgrade into the world of V8`s
