This 1938 MG TA is one of only 3003 built. It is a RHD UK car that was taken over to the USA after the war as many of them were; the US pilots loved them. It was Re-imported back into the U.K. in 2017, Registered and put on the road.
We purchased the car last year with a view for Jamie to use it and do a bit on it while he had it. Since having it we have repaired the spring hangers on the rear, rebuilt the XPAG engine with a recondition/reground crank, new shells and main bearings, new timing chain and cleaned the whole of the inside of the engine and filled it will good quality oil. We have put a new full stainless steel exhaust system on, and fitted new brakes shoes and brake cylinder seals. The petrol tank has been flushed out, so too has the water system. We have used the car on the odd occasion for local runs and classic car meets up until recently. It has sat under cover for the last few months as Jamie has lost interest in it, as he bought a VW camper van. He has now found a very old 1957 VW splitscreen he wants, as such his van and the MG are up for sale so he can raise the money to buy it.
The MG is in what can only be described as a "rough and ready" condition, or as the dealers would say it has "patina". The engine runs lovely, the lights work, the horn works and it steers and drives. I think the seals have gone in the master cylinder while it has stood, as for some reason the brake pedal goes to the floor with little resistance. It has been fitted with fibreglass wings at some stage in the past, and the roof has a few holes in it.
Having said that it is an original MG TA! Not many are around and certainly not at this price. We have nothing to hide, you can come with a jack and inspect it yourself or have an AA/RAC inspection done on it.
We have taken some videos of the car to help better show its condition.
