Stunning 1965 Jaguar Mk2 3.8 Manual/Overdrive Saloon For Sale

Stunning 1965 Jaguar Mk2 3,8 Saloon Manual/Overdrive Number 125 out of 1146 vehicles built in 1965, this very striking example of the ultimate specification Mark II, fitted with the 3.8 litre XK engine and four speed manual/overdrive gearbox, was later restored with a Coombs-style vented bonnet, chrome wire wheels, stainless exhaust system and a genuine Coombs rear luggage rack for touring purposes. The last owner invested thousands to bring the Mark II up to his exacting standards, but seemingly due to other commitments has now decided to pass the vehicle on for a new owner to enjoy. There is a substantial history file, testifying to diligent servicing and upgrading going right back to the 1970’s, which includes exchanging the Moss gearbox for an all synchromesh one, uprated brakes, negative earth conversion and Specialist repairs to engine, brakes, suspension, cooling system etc... According to a previous owner the engine was also rebuilt by a local engine shop about 4 years ago. Comes with V5 and an original green logbook (it was first registered on private plate HH1) plus an impressive collection of past MOT certificates dating back over 45 years. Owner’s toolkit also present. Finished in unmarked Carmen Red bodywork, with matching, unworn red leather interior and carpets to tone, all interior woodwork has been professionally restored with a glass-like finish. Cars like this don’t come up very often and is absolutely certain to appreciate with some Mk2 Jags now fetching over £50k, better than money in the bank. Transport arranged at £1 pr/mile (one way only charged) Model Info Jaguar saloons led the field in production and touring car races during much of the 1960’s. The Mark 2 gained a reputation as a capable car among criminals and law enforcement alike; the 3.8 litre model being particularly fast with its 220 bhp (164 kW) engine and with enough room for five adults. Popular as getaway cars, they were also employed by the police to patrol British motorways. The Mark 2 is also well known as the car driven by fictional TV detective Inspector Morse played by John Thaw. A 3.8 litre with the 220 bhp engine was capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 8.5 seconds and could reach a top speed of 125 mph (201 km/h. Production of the 3.8 ended in the autumn of 1967 after a run of 30,141.
