This is one of the very last classic 900's sold in the U.K. It is a late 1993 car. Most people think the Ruby was the last 150. In fact each dealership also got two 'run -out edition' 900i aeros. One black and one red. This meant only 64 cars to start with. Only 12 left now and I have come across 3 of them - two of which were being broken sadly.
Anyway, this one has over 7 months mot left. I have owned it for 3 years during which time it has been 100% reliable and been to several saab club events. It is the naturally aspirated injection not turbo version but does go extremely well despite the mileage which isn't really an issue on theses b202 unstressed engines. It has some sort of induction kit air filter and actually makes a great sound. Gearbox is also fine (because it is not a turbo) and I've been driving it 50 miles daily for the last couple of months. Recently serviced and coolant flush, new battery and welding to the areas identified on the mot inc jacking points. There are no leaks of any kind. Previous repairs have been made to the drive shaft tuunnels and rear shock mounts. I didn’t do them, it looks like patches. The previous owner spent £3400 with a well known saab specialist just before I bought it. I have recepits for the last 4 or so years but the previous chap told me he binned the rest of the service history !! I have receipts for: new radiator, water pump, belts, alternator, distributor, fuel pump plus, suspension components, head gasket test, full samco silicone hoses kit, 4 wheel alignment, new tailgate and welding.
It has a rare leather interior from the saab 9000 anniversary edition - nice front seats with the early saab aeroplane logo embossed and alcantara suede inserts (worth around £200 alone) It has an almost crack free dash and ofcourse the aero body kit, which is not perfect on the passenger door as has been cut to fit by a cretin but looks fine. All N/S panels fine. Finding the hub caps for the 15" BBS cross spoke alloys is also hard but these are all here. Probably also worth £250 ish.
However it is crusty underneath, particularly the front end. The usual spots, battery tray and the front underside should be welded but it has gone through several mot like this, boot corner, door bottoms. Could do with a new headlining as it is pinned up at present. It is a good looking car from 5 yards, the back end, roof etc look great with no visible rust on the outside. Bonnet has had some repairs previously and the paint has been over zealously T-cut back, the previous owner told me he did it and has exposed a line in the paint where it was blown in - I've lived with it no problem. One wing is clearly made of filler and the inner wing is non existent, however I am happy to thrown in a brand new inner arch from saab bits.
This is a good looking, very cool classic for little money which can be driven for the next 8 months and then either have money spent on restoring it ie welding the underside and probably a new wing or otherwise it would be great for parts but it would be a shame to murder one of these rare last of the line c900's in my opinion. I'm selling as I have too many saabs and need to restore my 1985 T16. Low starting price. Feel free to ask any questions. Obviously sold as seen. You have to come and inspect it and satisfy yourself of the condition. Cash on collection only. Ideally a saab enthusiast like me would want to have this with a view to keeping it going.
