1995 Alfa Romeo Roadster Zagato For Sale

Alfa Romeo was included in the Fiat group in 1986, and had considerable image problems at that time. To polish up the image, the link with the rich sports car history of Alfa Romeo was tightened and in the late 1980s an uncompromising sports car was developed together with Zagato. At the Geneva Motor Show 1989, Zagato presented the first prototype of the SZ under the name ES-30, an experimental sports car with a 3.0 liter engine. However, the design of the car was not entirely from Zagato. The Centro Stile by Alfa Romeo with Walter de’Silva and Alberto Bertelli and the Centro Stile by Fiat with Robert Opron were also called upon to design the new sports car. The main lines of the SZ ultimately came from Robert Opron and Antonio Castellana. The car looked controversial and completely different from all other Alfa Romeo models of that time, which earned the SZ the nickname ‘il mostro’ (= the monster). Alfa Romeo decided to put the ES-30 into production and changed its name to SZ, referring to the Sprint Zagato’s from the past. The mechanical parts, including the shortened chassis, were based on the Alfa Romeo 75. Zagato was responsible for the assembly. Only a thousand SZs would be produced, all in the typical Alfa red (Rosso Alfa) with a dark gray roof. The engine of the SZ is a 3.0 liter V6 with a maximum power of 210 hp and a torque of 245 Nm. The power is transferred via the rear wheels to the road surface and ensures a top speed of approximately 250 km / h and a 0-100 km / h sprint of 7 seconds. The SZ was produced until 1991. In 1992, Alfa Romeo and Zagato launched the Roadster Zagato (RZ). A convertible version of the SZ with the same aggressive appearance. Zagato took care of the adjustments to the design and gave the RZ a new bonnet and front bumper, among other things. The RZ was available in red, yellow and black. Two RZs left the factory in silver gray. The intention was to produce 500, but ultimately only a numbered edition of 278 copies was produced due to declining demand and economic conditions in the early 90s. This Alfa Romeo RZ was built on 13 July 1993 and was delivered new in Italy and was not registered for the first time on 14 September 1995, which is why this car was also registered as the first registration date for 1995. This Roadster Zagatto was introduced in England in 2000 and sold in 2005 to an owner in the Netherlands. The current owner has bought the Alfa Romeo in August 2013 in the Netherlands and has driven around 3,300 km with it in the past 6 years. In total, this RZ has driven around 75,000 km. The car has always been maintained by an Alfa Romeo specialist for the last 6 years and invoices are available. This year the car has had a major turn and the timing belt has been replaced. The car is very complete all original booklets are present and also the original Certificato Di Collaudo. We also have an information folder in which a large part of the history of this RZ is described. Price: €68.000,- This Alfa Romeo RZ is not in our showroom.
